Free Roaming Designs is the online web and graphic design portfolio of Jackson Hole resident, Mike Cavaroc.
I’ve been experimenting with and creating websites since 1996. I’ve stuck with and adapted to evolving technologies, and even survived the horrifying browser wars of the late 1990’s and early 2000’s. Starting off with a Computer Science background, I quickly switched to the Art Department to discover more about Adobe Photoshop v3.0. I received a Bachelor of Fine Arts with an emphasis in Digital Media, and then quickly continued my education to receive a Masters of Fine Arts, also emphasizing in Digital Media.
I took both my left and right brain with me through the years that followed, teaching myself PHP while also exploring photography in Arizona’s unforgiving landscapes. When it was too hot to get outside, I kept up my drawing and painting skills as well. My personal photography website quickly became my web development and design guinea pig, seeing which practices and technologies I could incorporate, while also fine-tuning my design and usability skills.
After moving to Jackson Hole, Wyoming in 2008, I worked even harder to develop and ultimately round out my knowledge and skill set to the sound of bison marching outside my door. This led me to a few different freelancing opportunities, and subsequently launching Free Roaming Designs.
